Dust Collector Filter Bag Selection Guid

블로그

How to Choose the Right Dust Collector Filter Bag?

In industrial dust removal, selecting the proper filter bag directly affects filtration efficiency, operating costs, and service life of the equipment. How to choose dust collector bag scientifically? It requires a systematic evaluation from three dimensions: dust characteristics, working conditions, and material properties.

Understand the Characteristics of the Dust

Dust Composition

Acidic/alkaline dust:
For example, coal-fired flue gas containing sulfur (acidic). Suitable materials: PPS or PTFE.

Corrosive dust:
Chemical industries containing HCl, SO₂, etc. Need PTFE or fiberglass with anti-corrosion coating.

General dust:
Such as wood dust or grain dust. Polyester (PE) is a cost-effective option.

Particle Size

Coarse particles:
Cause large wear on the bag → choose high-abrasion-resistant materials (e.g., thickened polyester).

Fine particles:
Require membrane-coated filter media (surface filtration, efficiency > 99.99%).

Humidity & Stickiness

Moist & sticky dust (e.g., cement, starch):
Easy to cause bag blinding → use oil- & water-repellent treatments or smooth-surface filter media.

Dry dust:
Standard polyester is sufficient.

Working Conditions Determine Temperature & Corrosion Requirements

Temperature

Normal temperature (<130°C):
Woodworking, grain processing → polyester or polypropylene.

Medium temperature (130–180°C):
Coal-fired boilers, chemical flue gas → Acrylic or PPS.

High temperature (>180°C):
Cement kiln inlet, waste incineration → PTFE, fiberglass, or P84.

Corrosive Gases

SO₂, NOx: → PTFE or fiberglass with PTFE membrane

High humidity + acidity (e.g., post-desulfurization flue gas): → PTFE with hydrophobic treatment

Materials for Dust Collector Bags Selection

Polyester (PE):
Low cost, good abrasion resistance, alkaline-resistant, but poor acid resistance and low-temperature limitation. Widely used in metallurgy, woodworking.

PPS:
Excellent high-temperature and acid resistance but weak oxidation resistance. Suitable for coal-fired boilers, chemical processes.

PTFE:
High temperature resistance and strong corrosion resistance; expensive. Used in waste incineration and highly corrosive environments.

Fiberglass:
High-temperature resistance and relatively low cost but brittle. Needs surface treatment. Common in cement and steel industries.

Membrane filter media:
Surface filtration, extremely high efficiency, easy cleaning, but higher cost and risk of clogging. Used in pharmaceuticals, electronics, precision manufacturing.

Special Requirements Should Not Be Ignored

For flammable and explosive dust such as coal powder or aluminum powder → use antistatic filter media.

For food and pharmaceutical industries → filter materials must pass FDA certification to ensure safety and hygiene.
