Requirements for Dust Filter Bags in Different Industrial Applications

In modern industrial dust control systems, significant differences in production processes, raw materials, and dust characteristics across industries lead to varying technical requirements for filter bags. Therefore, selection must be tailored to specific operating conditions.

1. High Temperature, High Concentration, and High Abrasion Conditions: Heavy Industries

In heavy industries such as steel, cement, power generation (coal-fired boilers), and metallurgy, dust is typically characterized by high temperature, high concentration, and strong abrasiveness. Some conditions also involve acidic or alkaline corrosive gases.

Under such conditions, filter bags must meet three core requirements:

High temperature resistance: Filter media must remain stable under continuous high temperatures. Common materials include P84, PPS, PTFE, and fiberglass membrane filters.

Corrosion resistance: The material must withstand acid and alkali attack to extend service life. PTFE performs particularly well due to its excellent chemical inertness.

High strength and wear resistance: Strong mechanical properties are required to withstand continuous impact from high-concentration, high-velocity dust-laden airflow.

2. Chemical Corrosion and Humid Conditions: Chemical and Energy Industries

In industries such as pharmaceuticals, fertilizers, and chemicals dust or flue gas often contains complex components with properties such as stickiness, hygroscopicity, or chemical corrosiveness.

Key requirements include:

Chemical stability: Fibers must resist chemical attack, preventing hydrolysis, oxidation, or degradation. PTFE is widely used due to its broad chemical resistance.

Water and oil repellency: For humid or oily environments, filter bags should be treated to resist water and oil, maintaining air permeability and cleaning efficiency.

3. High Filtration Precision Requirements: Manufacturing and Processing Industries

In industries such as wood processing, furniture manufacturing, powder coating, and food processing, dust is typically fine, lightweight, or sticky. While temperatures are relatively low, cleanliness standards are high.

Key requirements include:

High filtration efficiency and surface filtration: PTFE membrane filter bags are commonly used. Their dense surface captures fine dust on the surface, preventing penetration and clogging.

Appropriate surface smoothness: A smoother surface helps reduce dust embedding (e.g., wood fibers) and improves cleaning performance.

Conclusion

Dust collection filter bag selection is a critical decision that must be based on operating conditions such as temperature, gas composition, humidity, and dust characteristics. Properly matched filter media is essential to ensure long-term stable and efficient operation of dust collection systems.
